Swann Used Typical Labour Talk "Recession"
I was watching the Sunday morning political discussion on TV whilst on holidays, and sure as shit I near fell off my chair when I hear the typical words of Labour come through from Wayne Swann, "If inflation rises then we may need to have a recession." I couldn't believe what my ears where hearing. Honestly, Australian inflation is at 3%, which is the correct economical figure. It has fluctuated between 3% and 4% for years now, being the exact and ultimate place you want inflation to be. Now if Peter Costello could somehow reduce the inflation back to 3% every single time it rose a little, being he got control off it immediately by adjusting the economy to reduce it, then how exactly can Swann not do the same thing? I am lost here.... This isn't rocket science and its just a larger form of the typical household budget. You look at what is coming in vs. what must go out. You balance the economy through interest rates and other factors to ensure the population is not becoming to rich or to poor for the economy, hence how you maintain a near constant inflation rate (being the absolute basics of the idea that is.)
Why is it that Labour get in and their first words when doom and gloom face them is the use of "recession?" Why exactly would you not control the inflation rate when its in the figures to be controlled, instead of allowing the country to plummet itself into mass debt, have excessive interest rate rises and financial market chaos through loss and profit, all to try and balance out the economy? I just cannot understand that thinking when you a person does actually have the power to control the economy if they choose. Whilst China is pumping a lot of money into the country, at the end of the day the treasurer still can control that also through limiting new project and funds coming into the country. It can be controlled, but they simply do not think it can be, or they want the country (as labour do) to think they are doing a bang up job with lots of jobs being created, though inflation soars to record numbers once again like it does with Labour and then all comes crashing down.
I was hoping Rudd might have been different and actually had some balls to control his senior officials, though obviously not if he thinks recession is a good policy and simply allow the countries budget to get out of control.
