Electronic Stability Control (ESC) 25% Safer Than Without

Just watching the evening news on channel ten, and they stated that vehicles with Electronic Stability Control (ESC) are 25% less likely to lose control, which is a massive figure based on a year of statistics tracking vehicles with ESC. ESC has been in the USA for longer than Australia, though the statistics demonstrate that if overnight every vehicle here was fitted with ESC the death rate from car accidents would be reduced by over 200 fatalities annually, and near 2000 serious injuries per annum.

Those are massive numbers from one little device fitted into a car. ESC cannot be fitted after market, it is a new car only deal. A good choice by itself to upgrade and buy a new car that is fitted with ESC opposed to not fitted.

ESC stops the driver applying the brake when it detects instability in the vehicle, and instead applies the break on the required wheel/s in order to bring the car back straight. It works, go see what it is for yourself if not aware, linked above.

The funny aspect is the safety organizaations want the Government to now get involved. Like.... why haven't they already been involved if this one thing improves safety by 25% or more?
